The JISC eLISA (eLearning Independent Study
Skills Awards) Independent Lifelong Learning Project
started in 2003. This was to build on the work of the ISA, the Post-Inspection Action group
whichg decided to fund the establishment of the Independent Study Skill Module in all secondary schools and to extend .blended learning. Throughout the GPlus 14-19 institutions, by transforming the ISA initiative into an eLearning mode.
The eLearning Independent Study Skills Award project was therefore set up as a new pilot project to improve access to high quality on-line independent study skills teaching and learning resources This action is being progressed in partnership between the University of Greenwich, Excellence in Cities/Aimhigher/Aspire, the Greenwich City Learning Centres and London Grid for Learning (LGfL) The partners are writing and developing pilot elearning materials for ISSM and developing the MLE to track student performance. The production of the new pilot learning objects as part of the London Grid for Learning is based on existing ISA printed materials already in use by Greenwich school staff and students.
It is aimed that pilot elearning study support materials will be online by July 2005, providing support to GPlus institutions in a blended learning approach, for .anytime anywhere. access working in partnership with the Greenwich City Learning Centres Manager, Phil Noakes. The JISC eLisa Lifelong Learning project will develop, produce, disseminate and evaluate independent study skills materials to assist lifelong learners to achieve progression from schools, further, adult and community education providers into higher education.
